A lot depends on the GPU you have. If it's something relatively modern you should have no issues, but I would first check the per-game settings in your graphics control panel to make sure NVidia or whatever isn't trying to juice up your graphical fidelity with settings intended for modern games which NAB doesn't really benefit from.
You should also be aware that there are two rendering engines you can choose from for NAB on modern machines. D3D and OpenGL. OpenGL is more supported, has more configurable options, and it is less buggy, so I recommend it. This should be the default setting for the Community Pack. First, make sure it is by checking in the in-game options tab in "General", in the first setting titled "Video Driver".
Now that you know what video driver you are running, you can adjust the settings by clicking the "Advanced Options" button in that same tab. You need to navigate the list that pops up by selecting the "Rendering" group, then expanding the video driver that you want to adjust. For this example, using "OpenGL Support" reveals a number of subgroups and options. You'll need to explore these options to find settings that may impact your GPU. I found that the SuperSampling option (in the Quality group) is pretty intensive and in my case lowering it helped a lot without impacting the visuals much.
I also noted that my GPU usage spiked on first booting NAB and slowly went down after a few minutes. Does your temperature issue remain consistent or does it spike only during loading?
