Updater not Working correctly

Hi Rajada!

This happens from a few updates ago you release can’t say from what version start to fail.
I always use the updater because I have a Online server from 2023.
Happen in Windows 10 in different computers or Windows 11.
Dont think it’s a problem with my Nerf Arena because a few months ago works fine.

Yes the files are getting updated that’s for sure, the problem 
it’s the next release will always download all the files
because always think everything it’s not update 

something it’s bad with the logic of the updater.
but from my side I can’t test nothing else until you make some changes or need some logs

All of my other testing environments do not produce this error so there must be some variable on your end that is causing the logic to trip up. My guesses are timebase issues, maybe DLS is interfering due to your timezone. DLS does kick on and off for individual countries at different times in the year, which might explain the sudden change despite the logic not really changing. I'm still looking into it.

For now, there's a newer version of the updater with way more logging. It probably won't address your issue but you could start translating the language file if you'd like.

Yes I try changing the time zone to for example USA -6:00 and still say theres file to update.
Another thing I still don't understand its for example:

That map in theory must be somewhere, to get updated, I only see it in:
update.nerfarena.net/original/community/Maps/Lite/

But the date it's: 2024-11-29
So im not sure if this file it's update to the version 1/30/2025 for the Revision 3.6.35

It's a shame the updater doesn't work reliably. Because it makes the task of keeping a server reliably updated very complex. The updater should work not for individual files and dates but for compressed update packages and everything would be easier.
I also have no way of knowing if, for example, I am operating with version 3.6.35 since there is no information about it anywhere.
On my side at least there is nothing else I can do unfortunately.
I don't think this is a problem of region, time, or anything like that, there is a problem in the updater code.
So for now I'm going to shut down the server after many years until this can be resolved because I have no way to keep it updated reliably.
I'll still be on the lookout in case the updater is corrected one day.
 

I am in USA-8 so I'd be curious to see if matching my timezone exactly fixes the issue. That would rule out timezone issues.

That is the exact location CommandRemix should be on the update server. Nothing wrong with that. The date is correct too, I fixed some playerstart issues on that date.

There's really no reason to shut down your server. I keep the Community Pack up to date these days so right now there's no newer updates for you to worry about.

You mean you are going to make a version 3.7 or something like that?

I try put, UTC -08:00 time, try to put AM/PM mode because I use 24 hs, and still the same, always say there's new files to update.

I think you should change the approach to how new files are detected.
Because using the modification date is going to bring about these regional problems.
In my opinion you have to build a new version 3.7 to synchronize all the changes up to today.

And then rebuild the updater. Let the updater generate a quick checksum of the local files and compare them with a checksum list file that you generate of all the files uploaded to the web server.
This way if any file does not match because it's not the same will be downloaded.
It's more precise and you will never have any time, region, date issue.

 

Do me a favor, in the advanced mode Updater, check the box for "File Reverts". Then check all the purple file nodes and update them. Then, check for updates again and tell me if anything changed. I have a hunch.
