Issue Description:
Nerf ArenaBlast crashes often due to running out of virtual memory. Often, an error dialogue pops up claiming that Nerf ArenaBlast has run out of virtual memory and you should clear out room on your hard disk.
Solution #1 - Increase Maximum Virtual Memory Size:
You can help alleviate this issue by increasing your virtual memory allocated to NAB. First, open your Nerf.ini file located in your System folder in your Nerf installation folder with a text editor. Find the following lines within:
[Engine.GameEngine]
CacheSizeMegs=4
Change the 4 (or the number in that place if it happens to not be 4) to a higher number like 256 and you shouldn't get the ran out of virtual memory crash quite nearly as often. More virtual memory results in longer, more reliable play sesions, especially if you are hosting a server with a ton of mutators and many connected players.
Solution #2 - Clear Some Space on Your Primary Hard Drive:
Even if you increase your maximum virtual memory size in Nerf ArenaBlast, that amount of space has to exist on your primary hard drive. If you have very little room remaining on your primary hard drive, consider some of these tips:
- Move some programs to a secondary hard drive.
- Uninstall unneeded programs.
- Delete unneeded files.
- Remove free trail software that has expired.
- Clear out your browser(s) downloaded files storage.
- Empty your recycle bin.
- De-fragment your hard drive (newer operating systems are scheduled to do this automatically, but a manual de-frag once in a while is OK as long as you are NOT using a solid state drive)
Additional Notes:
Note that this number is not limited to your computer's amount of RAM. Windows operating systems operate with a default minimum size of virtual memory equal to your RAM amount, and a maximum default size equal to three times your RAM amount. Although testing on amounts of virtual memory greater than 4 gigs has not been attempted, any amount less than the amount of hard drive space and three times your RAM you have should function.
