You may provide any bug reports, or other feedback about the Nerf 300 beta in this thread.

Main focus: Match and career progress halting bugs and vanilla map updates.

Known issues (high priority fixes that I'm working on right now):
  • Using the new game option on a player card other than the one currently selected will result in the current player name / difficulty being copied over the original name / difficulty that should have remained unchanged.
  • Mutator challenge menu no longer opening on first boot due to menu no longer being opened by default on boot.
  • Players still play hit sounds when in god mode.
  • Bots can get stuck on the edges of the Amateur slide.
  • Comboboxes remain open when pressing escape.

Known issues (normal priority fixes that might need further info to diagnose):
  • "Now viewing from " messages in spectating state code and "has no ammo" messages are displayed twice.
  • All projectiles need to be revised for networking purposes, including visuals and sounds that should be checked to make sure they only play out on each client once.
  • Sometimes creating a dedicated server creates two instances of it.

Features to add / improve:
  • One should be able to change teams in online team games more easily.

I've found an issue with the crosshair; it appears to be off-center, at least when the game is running at 1920 x 1080.

I've attached a screenshot with two versions, the original and an edited version where I added white lines to separate the screenshot into four equal quadrants, with the lines intersecting at the center of the screen. It can clearly be seen in the edited version that the crosshair's center does not line up with the center of the screen.

At first I believed the game was placing the top-left corner of the crosshair image file in the center of the screen, but after switching to a box-shaped crosshair, I found that this was not the case. I haven't tested other resolutions yet, so this may only be an issue with higher resolutions.

Wow, don't know how I missed this for so long. When I remade the crosshairs, I made them at twice the resolution of the old versions, but forgot to double the offset.

I feel as if right now, the Nerf Cannon alt-fire explosion could do more damage (if it's doing any damage at all right now, that is). I haven't been able to kill anything with it at all, even when I explode a detball directly next to someone.

Also, I feel the ballzooka goo should have some visual feedback when you're stuck. Text that says "You're stuck in goo!" somewhere on the screen, and perhaps a green screen effect of some kind would help.

EDIT: Gonna list bugs that I find as well.
  • The doors in the Luna Bonus match do not open in the right direction.
  • Somehow, if I run around the Nerf Lobby, between ready rooms, I can eventually break the map, causing the lighting to break and half of the map to disappear, leaving only the Amateur and Sequoia arenas accessible.

I have made it so Ballzooka goo now flashes your screen when you step in it. As for the Nerf Cannon, I need to do some testing and figure out if this is a damage, radius, or other issue.

The Nerf Cannon issue has been fixed. There was a problem in the order code was being executed that skipped the damage dealing part.

So this is actually not a bug. You hit my hidden debug teleporter that takes you to the secret renovations in progress version of the plaza. There, I am experimenting with the ready rooms to make them a bit nicer looking visually. It shouldn't have made it into the public beta but somehow it did. There's a teleporter to take you back in the same (I think?) area.

Either the Wildfire needs to do slightly more damage. If not the primary fire made a little faster (It's the wildfire for goodness sake). It's become very weak.

Hey Rajada, I found a bug when launching Nerf. I tried uninstalling my old Nerf, removing the beta and re-downloading/installing the game. A screenshot and my PC specs are below.

P.S. Love the new updater, had no problems with it (as far as I can tell) and it looks awesome!

I'll forward this to the OpenGl guy. It looks like a graphics issue, which either means something bad like your GPU is too old, or something mundane like a file has gone missing. In the meantime, make sure that you have full user account permissions on the folder and drive that you are installing the game to.

Okay I'll check that out right now. This might help you out, I was tinkering around and I got the recovery mode dialog when I ran Nerf again and I know I can reset the resolution by clicking the safe mode button and checking use resolution 640x480 so I tried that and strangely the error changed slightly. I attached more screenshots below. Best of luck!

So the OpenGl guy has suggested two things. Firstly, update your graphics drivers if possible, then see if that changes anything (you shouldn't need to run it in safe mode at all). Next, in a few minutes I'll be releasing a small update to the OpenGL renderer, and you can see if that solves the issue.

Oh, also, attach your Nerf.log file here for us to look at. It might have a better indicator of the issue. It is located in the System directory of your Nerf300 folder. Please post it before updating though, so we get the right information in the log.

Some areas of the game seem unnecessarily darker than they did in, say, the vanilla or CP versions. The most jarring dark area in my opinion is the Amateur ReadyRoom; the side of the room with the mutator challenges "vent" is so dark that you can't even tell that the square on the wall is a vent unless someone told you, even with brightness turned up to max. My guess as to why these areas are darker than normal is due to lighting changes in 300x that were never compensated enough for in any of the levels.

Yes, a lighting pass has yet to be done on the maps. Especially the plaza, it needs a lot of work ever since I combined all the ready rooms. I wouldn't consider any of the maps final by any stretch of the imagination.

I've always wanted a better indicator for the health of the Electro Shield. The blue/red icon used in all versions of NAB so far, in my opinion, isn't informative enough. On the other side of the spectrum, I don't want a straight-up numerical indicator for shield health remaining; somehow I feel like it wouldn't fit with NAB's art style.

Instead, I'd like a small, probably thin health bar placed under the icon. This would give players a better way of determining how much damage the shield will absorb before breaking. The icon itself wouldn't change at all, still turning red when the shield's health is 25 or less. In fact, the bar could be applied to the rest of the powerups, being used as an indicator for how much time is left before the powerups expire.

You could copy-paste the contents into a .txt file and upload that.

Thanks. Now, have you tried updating the game to see if that fixes the issue? I had the OpenGl drivers updated an hour ago to supposedly address this issue with your brand of graphics card.
