Just discovered a new form of jumping involving detballs; head to the NAB Community Facebook page for more details

I hear linux is picky about capitalization, make sure that they're correctly capitalized in the list.

Veng92 - 04/10/2018 - 19:34

Thanks, it doesn't happen on my Windows machine, only on Linux (wine)... perhaps those maps require more graphics memory than wine is allocating?

Rajada - 04/09/2018 - 21:10

I'll have to look into this

Veng92 - 04/09/2018 - 19:04

PM-Cypher doesn't either :(

Veng92 - 04/09/2018 - 18:42

Hmm, so far it doesn't load: Probe, Barracuda, PMX-Lunar and Wolf'sBayRemix at all, instant crash with the same error. the in-game "maplist" menu crashes too. It seems ok without these in rotation

Rajada - 04/09/2018 - 02:23

Yeah that was my other suggestion

Veng92 - 04/08/2018 - 21:14

Ah it was down to inconsistent numbering in the end, seems ok now :-)

Rajada - 04/07/2018 - 21:28

Make sure they all end in .nrf as well

Veng92 - 04/07/2018 - 20:40

I did it through the advanced options, deleted a map and then moved the others up so there wasn't a gap

Does anyone run multiplayer servers anymore. I've been away for a while and a bit rusty, but looking to play again. There were no servers showing tonight. Wondering if there is a particular time that people run servers.

Thanks,

Similar question here; how can I create a private multiplayer server to hang out with my friends? Or can I???

And also, can't reach to the server which I saw in the "all servers" tab, it makes the game crash :/ is there any solution to fix this?

Firstly, there may be no servers running at the moment. Sometimes I'll run one but at the moment my life is a little hectic. I'm actually working on a better way to update the game so it's not quite so hard to set up a server in the future.

Secondly, if you haven't done so already, install the Community Pack. It fixes that multiplayer error, along with a bunch of other issues.

www.nerfarena.net/index.php/downloads/do...-community-pack-full

Technically, you only need the "Essential" install to fix the issue, but most multiplayer servers will use the custom maps too, so it's nice to have those.

If the CP doesn't fix your crash, get back to me and I'll do some troubleshooting with you.

Lastly, once you install the CP, read this article to get you up to speed on setting up a server, then get back to me with any questions you still have. By the way, the set up server tab is locaqted in the multiplayer menus of the game. Mutators there also affect your server, as well as the maplist tab (which is located in the singleplayer menus). It should all become clear once you're not crashing and can look around the menus some more.

First of all, I've installed the CP and I can say clearly, that is amazing; It has solved almost every kind of problems, bugs and crashes, thanks a lot it's a great job!. It's so beautiful to see there's someone who still cares this awsome game. This game brought me to my childhood and make me feel like living in 2002; enjoying with nerf arena blast at 12 :).

Also I've checked the article and what I understand from that is; creating a LAN server is a piece of cake. I can play with my brother without any trouble already. But if I want to play with other friends who are out of the bounds of my wi-fi, so I need to do the port forwarding. That's ok :)

And the last thing that I have to say about the public server. Just like I said before, when I click on the "all servers" tab, a single server appears from Melbourne/Australia (I guess so) named as "NET247 (Melb AU)" which allows 16 players max. but like a ghost town... I thought I can gather my friends in it and play together. We've been trying to find a way to play together and it seemed the easiest way to do it. But when I click on it, game chrashes and I didn't get any crash unless I click that server. So the CP works well :) and If the game crashes due to the server is closed, it's ok. But it looked reachable so that confused me and felt me to need to ask about what if there's no problem with the server but I did something wrong during the installion or something else and can't join it. But anyway, I'll try to do the port forwarding :). The thing that makes me afraid and to find easy ways is, I don't know exactly how to do it. Well, I know few things about port forwarding, at least I've heard much formerly but didn't setup any ever. I have to learn first. If you can make some easy way to setup a server (whitout port forwarding at least) just like you said, I would be really really grateful for you :)

Thank you for every advices again, you're doing great job! I hope you can fix up and arrange everything which makes your life hectic ASAP :).

Please forgive my impatience; I couldn't wait for you to answer my last entry :dry:

Well I think I've learned how to forward some ports B) but here's another thing appeard that I couldn't understand. I'll type below step by step that what I've done to be sure if it's all true. Because like I said before, it's my first port forwarding so I need you to check if something's missing or wrong:

- with the IPv4 default gateway, I get in to my router's interface, found the page of port forwarding/triggering and put the required numbers like as;

- IPv4 adress to the local IP adress line,

- left as empty the external IP adress line (tried to put 0.0.0.0 but not been accepted)

- local/external start port :4444,

- local/external end port: 4445

- set the protocol as UDP

- and saved...

- then I've setup a public/participated server named as a "Sosruko's server" in the multiplayer menu right after the port forwarding and told my brother to check if he can see my server in any server tab except LAN. But he couldn't :/ Besides we can't see any "internet" tab in the multiplayer menu while trying to find a game server; there's only "populated server", "LAN", and "all servers" but he could see my server only in the LAN again... just like nothing happened after all those port forwarding thing :D

Also there's no place to put the IPv4 address manually which had been given by the host. Like in the Minecraft for example, What should I do now? :/

Sorry, I misunderstood your last post. Yes, the person who runs that server refuses to use the CP for some reason, and CP and non-CP games are not compatible. The crashing is expected. Unfortunately, I can't hide him from the server list, as that requires making an entirely new version of the network protocols (which I'm working on, but it isn't complete yet).

So, I probably should have clarified. If you push the tilde key (~) you get a console you can use to enter commands. If you know the IP of the computer hosting a server, you can just enter "open <IP HERE>". Obviously, without the quotes and with <IP HERE> replaced with the IP you got.

As for the port forwarding, make sure NAB has an exception through Windows Firewall (if it is on), and double check the internal IP. The router assigned IPs for your devices can change unless you also assign a static IP for those devices. For example, in my router, my computer which I would use as a server is under the address 192.168.1.2. If I were to reset the router, this could change. Somewhere, your router should have a page dedicated to "attached devices" that reveals the internally assigned IPs. Also, if you had NAB or a dedicated server in your tray icons running while you tweaked the port forwarding, you may need to restart your computer before the changes will take effect.

Additionally, I meant "All Servers" tab, not internet tab. If your server appears on the "All Servers" tab from a different computer, then that means the forwarding worked. If none of that fixes it, let me know and we can troubleshoot some more.

Glad to hear it. If you get the port forwarding working, you can make it public later too.

Yes definitely I'll be working on it :) And if I can make it, you're always welcome in my server when you're available :) If everything goes well, we'll be like 7 people in the same game and there's gonna be enough room for 9 more players :lol:

So there's only one more question to ask for now; how can we add some bots? :whomper: :lol: what are the adding and the kicking commands? I know I'm asking too much and I don't really want to bother you with all these questions but promise; it'll be the last question for a while :silly:

The command "addbot" adds a bot, but you have to be logged in as an administrator of your server to do that. What I recommend is to open the location where you installed Nerf ArenaBlast (usually C:\Program Files\Atari\Nerf) and open the System folder. Then open the Nerf.ini file with a text editor. You want to adjust a couple of settings, so find all of these settings and set them as shown:

bMultiPlayerBots=True
bUseRecommendedBotCount=True
bUseRecommendedBotCountOnline=True
bUseBotRebalance=True

In future versions, I'm adding these as menu items so they're not so hard to adjust. But here is an explanation for now:

bMultiPlayerBots: Completely enables or disables bots in multiplayer games you create
bUseRecommendedBotCount: Lets the map tell the game what the recommended amount of players is for that map (in singleplayer)
bUseRecommendedBotCountOnline: Lets the map tell the game what the recommended amount of players is for that map (in multiplayer)
bUseBotRebalance: When a player leaves or joins, a bot will fill their place or be removed for the sake of game balance.
