How do you set up the microphone? |

The first step is to plug in the microphone. Then you go to Volume Control (your little speaker thing on the taskbar). If it isn't on your taskbar you can find it at Start Menu, Programs, Accessories, Entertainment, Volume Control.
Once you have Volume Control open you need to click on the Options button located in the top left corner. Then you go to Properties, choose the option Recording, (it is near the top of the menu). Make sure that the Mic option is checked. If you have finished that press OK. You should see a couple sliders. Push the slider named all the way to the top. Make sure the select box underneath the Mic slider is checked as well, otherwise TeamSpeak won't work properly. If you find that you can't get enough level out of your mic, you can always turn on the "Mic Boost". You can turn this option on by clicking on the Options menu and checking the option Advanced Controls. You should now see a box labeled Advanced under the Mic slider. Pres the button, and turn on the Mic Boost option. Now open TeamSpeak, go to Settings and click on Sound Input/Output Settings. Here you can decide whether you want push to talk, or voice activation. If you choose voice activation, you will need to set you level of how loud you need to speak before you are heard. It will take some trial and error to get it right, remember, nobody likes hearing you breath. Moving your microphone also helps eliminating breathing noise. Once you think you have your mic set up you should test it. Set the Test Codec to 25.9 Speex and click Activate local test mode. Adjust your activation sound level as necessary. You may find that your microphone is too loud or soft for TeamSpeak to work properly. If this is the case, you can always go back to the Recording section of Volume Control and adjust the Microphone slider. This will turn the mic up or down.
That's it... enjoy TeamSpeak! |
