Run Nerf ArenaBlast on Vista x64
Written by Tinko Bartels

I have successfully ran Nerf Arena Blast on Windows Vista x64. The steps I took should also work on the 32bit version of Vista as well.

First install NAB on Vista.

After you have installed it, you will need to create a new shortcut icon. The default icon that the game installs will not work.

To create a new icon, go to: Program Files > Atari > Nerf > System. In that folder you will find an application called “Nerf.exe” (not VNerf.exe). Create a shortcut to that file, and you will be able play.

Unfortunately, you will only be able to see one server in the Multiplayer menu. Hopefully this bug will be fixed in later versions.

You should still be able to play on all of the online servers however by using the "Join Server" links listed on the Servers tab of NerfArena.net or type: "open IP:Port" for example: "open 24.98.12.124:4011" for Sahibs Std Map.

Keep in mind that the 32bit version of Vista may run NAB properly without having to create the shortcut.

Editors Note:
You can skip these all of the above steps by installing the Community Pack with the “Create Shortcuts” check box enabled.

Rajada sent me an E-Mail with the following advice. He had a problem on Vista 32Bit:

"I was getting VERY choppy game-play and sound despite a good graphics card and system. Turns out running the program in compatibility mode for "Windows 98/ME" greatly increased my frame rate and made sound audible. Sometimes you will also need to restart NAB a couple of times before the changes take effect.

You can also go into NAB's advanced options, expand 'Audio' and set 'Use Direct Sound' to True if you still have choppy sound."
