Re:Awesome, stupendous, epicly super idea! - 2010/06/14 01:27 I'll see if I can get Nerf running sometime this week, but in case I can't, could we extend the deadline till next weekend? (I was gone all weekend so I couldn't do anything.)

Re:Awesome, stupendous, epicly super idea! - 2010/07/01 23:15 Well the results are in! The good news is everyone got into the pack! The bad news is I can only assign bragging rights to a few of you. So while I tick you off in some numerical order that I have created out of a necessity to rank you all on a scale of 'huh?' to 'awesome', you can at least take some comfort in the fact that none of you fell below 7! I had to make some hard choices, but based on composition and how it worked as a desktop, I had to choose three main winners that I really liked...

In the illustrations category...

First place belongs to Xan's awesome "Another Typical Day".

This one was just too funny to pass up and being one of the only two entries, it wasn't too hard to see that this one was just a neck above the competition.

Second place belongs to Qwerty's "Dawn of a New Day".

Very well made, but the only issue I had was that it had to be stretched to fit widescreen mode or else you'd cut off half the message.

Now, the category most of you have been waiting for, the NAB screenshots!

In first place... JONAS OF THE BARACUDAS! By which I of course I mean Boofer's "Last Crusader".

This was a clearly first rate shot, planned out perfectly, and executed well. The flare gives the building a very ominous, other-worldly look and the hue makes it a great desktop.

In second place is Xan's "Desert Winds".

The simplicity of this piece made it so elegant and perfect for a desktop.

In third place is Jaf's "Kanyons".

I really liked this piece and it might have just barely beat desert winds if it had only been at a slightly better resolution and a little wider view. Still, another great entry.

Here are the other shots submitted and what I thought of them...

Very awesome shot, but too much gray made it hard to use as a desktop, still, kudos for a nice idea.

A good funny shot, a little dark for a desktop but I do enjoy the lighting as a shot in itself.

A neat idea, a shot of MosEiselyRemix in the seat of the land speeder, but the blue in the windshield only really washed out some of the neat details.

A very good try, but a little far out of a shot to make out a lot of the detail. Removal of the weapon would have helped a bit, but If it were me I would have re-lit it myself in a custom map, that map is just very full of 'black holes' from BSP errors.

Of course, full versions will be available in the NAB Theme Desktop Pack download available in...

Standard or wide-screen
