Nerf arena 2007 question - 2007/04/09 14:27 how hard would it be to make a NAB 2k7?? using the UT2k4 engine??

would it be possible to remake NAB using this engine?

it would be great to have a new version of NAB using a more up to date engine

Re:Nerf arena 2007 question - 2007/04/10 16:24 after doing alot of reading on the unreal developers network it looks like ut2k4 has extra mod support to make doing total conversions alot easyer.

i was also wondering if someone would be able to start work on converting the origional game maps over to ut2k4?, as mapping i cant do.

Re:Nerf arena 2007 question - 2007/04/16 18:44 decompiling it out of NAB won't work. You have to modify the files in UT2004. Well not really modify, you only have to extend the existing scripts and modify them to more 'nerfish' looking. My old sig was too long...

Re:Nerf arena 2007 question - 2007/04/16 20:42 sure, but that is all after the fact. the first step is to change death messages, gun sound effects/skins. If all you do is change the death messages it will already be much more "nerfy"

although the maps can't be modified (unless you take them and personally change every texture) you can change guns, meshes etc (if your doing a total conversion).

Re:Nerf arena 2007 question - 2007/04/17 00:05 its a totally different engine, it won't work. And even if you could do it, it wouldn't be worth the trouble. Your best bet is to modify existing guns (rename, change sounds, death messages and textures) then build new maps for "nerf" gameplay later. Models come MUCH later. My old sig was too long...
