That knowledge was lost during the Spanish Inquisition due to a raid on the Templar archives by the members of the Clean Cult, or the Cleans. This cult takes "cleanliness is next to godliness" literally, in that they believe that if a person lives a clean enough life long enough, they will become a god when they die. They have their own brand of cleaning supplies dedicated to this purpose, with each item being blessed personally by the leader of their cult;
